There are two kinds of people in this world, hopeless romantics and realists.
I do not think there has been a time when I turned on Stuck in Love without shedding a tear. Besides the killer soundtrack, there are numerous realistic situations that many people can relate too. If you have a netflix account, stop whatever you are doing right now and go turn this indie film on. Although the reviews are not the best, this movie is a must see for anyone in college. This isn't your typical high school movie where there is a mean girl and different cliques, and I think that is why I love it so much. There is just something about the way the characters are portrayed and how the storyline seems extremely realistic unlike most modern films. I am forever thankful that my roommate made me watch this movie.
"There are two kinds of people in this world, hopeless romantics and realists. A realist just sees that face and packs it in with every other pretty girl they’ve ever seen before. A hopeless romantic becomes convinced that God put them on earth to be with that one person. But there is no God, and life is only as meaningful as you fool yourself into thinking it is."
“If love is setting a place at the table for someone who is never coming home, I think I’ll pass.” (Samantha)
-- Samantha Borgens is a cynical writer who doesn't believe in love or the happily ever after. She is an amazing writer who writes from her wild promiscuous experiences.
“I remember that it hurt…
Looking at her hurt.” (Rusty)
-- Rusty Borgens is the hopeless romantic who writes on what he feels. He is the 'sensitive' guy.
"My biggest mistake other than hurting you was thinking you could fix me. Only I can fix me. I’d like to become the person who actually deserves to be with someone like you. I don’t know how long that’ll take, but I hope you’ll be there when it happens." (Kate)
Kate is the girl that Rusty falls in love with. She is the classic popular girl who falls in love with the sensitive guy who no one really knows. She goes through her own problems and relies on Rusty to fix them for her.
Throughout the movie you are faced with a whirlwind of emotions. You are faced with a broken family, a grudge held too long, first loves and true loss. There is some humor, tears and a lot of truth to the characters. It seems that everyone just grows up a bit. If you are anything like me, you will not get through this film without thinking you are going to cry at least once. And if I have not convinced you to watch this film yet, I should probably add that Logan Lerman plays a major role and is absolutely adorable.
Make sure to keep an open mind when viewing this movie and enjoy!
