Why My Mom Is A "Cool Mom"

My mom is not just a normal mom, she is a cool mom.

Why My Mom Is A "Cool Mom"

With fathers day coming up, I wanted to give a shout out to my single mother who is so underrated. Everyone likes to claim that their mother is the coolest, but I beg to differ because I am pretty sure my mom is the coolest, even cooler than Regina George's mom.

1. My mom always has an open ear.

Although my mom's opinions never align with mine, she is always ready to listen (or pretend to listen) to my long boring stories about my life. To make things even better, she seems to listen to me without complaining — ever. I love that I am able to tell my mom anything that comes up in my life, good or bad.

2. My mom unwillingly supports my terrible spending addiction.

My mom will constantly yell at me about my terrible addiction to spending money on the most stupid things, however, she has the hardest time cutting me off completely. She will tell me for days that I am going to get cut off soon, but she knows that she loves me too much to cut me off, so that makes her pretty cool if you ask me.

3. My mom is a little dorky.

She will deny it for days, but my mom is the dorkiest of them all. Her weird jokes that literally no one thinks are funny but her, her weird obsession with dressing up in her clothes from the '80s and the excitement she gets over feeding squirrels all help make up the little dorky things that make my mom so cool.

4. My mom gives me my space.

Of course my mom cares about what I am doing at all times, but she gives me my space. Once she knows what I am doing, she backs off and lets me live my life and make my own mistakes, and that is probably one of the things that I love most about her.

5. My mom supports my newly found love for wine.

Honestly, I do not even need to say more. This alone should make my mom the coolest mom on Earth.

6. My mom is friends with my friends.

She gossips with us and talks like she is our age. It is like she never grew past her 20s. She doesn't act like the 40-year-old dork she is, and she is always ready to hang out with us, how could anyone hate a mom like that?

7. My mom supports my crazy dreams.

No matter how big my dreams get, she is always telling me more and more to make my dreams reality. She is never telling me I am dreaming too big, and she always wants me to reach higher and higher, and that is something that is important in a mother.
