Music is a huge part of our culture as human beings. It's a vital aspect in our lives. So important we even have special award shows specifically for the music industry. To name a few: The MTV Music Video Awards, the Grammy's, The Country Music Awards and many more.
Every year, hundreds of thousands of new songs are produced and released. Each song having a different sound and a different meaning.
When there are so many terrible things going on in our world, music is a way to escape those hard times.
Music exposes us to a completely new world from the one we live in. It's nice to be able to just put in headphones and escape the world sometimes.
Music is so diverse and unique that if you're feeling happy, there are thousands of songs about being happy. If you're feeling inspirational, there are plenty of inspirational songs out there too. Take "Fight Song" by Rachel Platten for example. The chorus of the song is, "This is my fight song, take back my life song, prove I'm alright song". She's basically saying "I'm going to be amazing and prove everyone else wrong". It's ok to think you're going to be awesome.
On the other hand though, if you're feeling sad or upset, there are a multitude of songs you can connect to for any situation you're in. I find that when I'm in a bad mood, I like to listen to songs that mirror what my emotions, it makes me feel less alone. "Skyscraper" by Demi Lovato. She's pouring her heart out into this song. She's saying "yeah I've been bruised and bent, but i'm gong to stand tall". Knowing she was going through similar things I was going through, was strangely comforting. Seeing her turn her life around and seeing how she showed us all her growth through her music, made me also want to turn my life around.
Concerts are another form of expression in the music world. Hundreds of people are needed to make one night, a night everyone in the crowd will never forget.
A lot of people don't understand why going to concerts is so important as well. Being in the same room as someone who helped you through a really hard time is a feeling I can't adequately describe. That person or group of people was there when no one else was and that means so much to someone who feels so alone. Also knowing everyone in that arena or stadium is there for the same reason you are, is an amazing feeling. Music saves lives and I don't think people understand that.
Music has the ability to help someone in a time of need and it also has the power to make a good day, an even better day.
When you can find music that you relate to on a personal level whether it be because it reminds of a good memory or it speaks all of the feelings you can't put into words, it creates a bond that can't be broken.
