Why Mother's Day Should Be Every Day

I love you, Mom

Why Mother's Day Should Be Every Day

As everyone knows, unless you live under a rock, Sunday was Mother's Day. Inevitably, I was in Rite Aid buying a card, along with the rest of my town, and I realized that Mother's Day is kind of a dumb holiday. If you think about it, why is there only one day a year, that we are thankful for our mothers, or grandmothers, or great-grandmothers, or aunts, etc.? In reality, we should be thankful for them every day. Our moms do so much for us, it doesn't seem fair that they just get one day a year that they are thanked. Every day we should help around the house, run some errands, be nice to our siblings and give our mom's a break.

I am not undermining my mother in any way. In fact, I am doing the opposite. I should be helping my mom every day, as should everyone else. So, Mom, I am sorry that I am so difficult sometimes and don't always help around the house, but I am so thankful for everything you have ever done for me.

So thanks for...

1. Going through the awful thing of child labor.

2. Feeding me.

3. Helping me with my first steps.

4. Making all my birthday cakes when I was younger.

5. Setting up all my play dates so I had friends.

6. Helping me with my homework.

7. Being patient.

8. Always driving me around... before I could drive myself

.9. Teaching me how to drive.

10. Teaching me what is right from wrong.

11. Being my number one fan.

12. Being my shoulder to cry on.

13. Responding to my 1,349,594,203 texts.

14. And calls.

15. Sending me to overnight camp.

16. Making me clean up after myself.

17. Lecturing me about the importance of saving money.

18. But also letting me buy that really cute shirt.

19. Supporting my decisions even when they weren't the smartest.

20. And stopping me before they were really really dumb.

21. Making dinner every night.

22. Keeping the house in order.

23. Making sure our family stays close and has holiday's together.

24. Teaching me the importance of family.

25. Being my mom.

I know I don't tell you this enough, but you are very important to me and I couldn't imagine my life without you. We should really honor our mothers every day and not just this one day a year, because without them, we really wouldn't be here.

Love you to the moon and back,
Your favorite daugher.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
