Living the single life can be difficult at times. We all want someone there to make us feel wanted and loved, especially during the holidays when we look around and feel like everyone else has that special someone. This is my first single holiday in a few years, and I realized something: it's so much less stressful. So if you're feeling sad about being single for the holidays, here's some reasons why you shouldn't.

1. One less present to buy

We all know as a college student, our budget is limited. So having one less present to buy when you don't have a significant other can actually be a blessing in disguise. And I know for me, I always struggled with what to even buy for a boy.

2. No awkward family situations

I'm the person who drops tomato sauce on my white shirt during important dinners, so this is a huge one for me. Meeting your boyfriend or girlfriend's family can be extremely stressful, especially during the holidays when extended family is usually involved.

3. Eat what you want

You have no one to impress, so eat all the turkey and pumpkin pie you want, no one is judging.

4. More time with family and friends

I know for me being away at school means I don't see my family or friends at home much anymore. Not having to worry about a significant other over the holidays opens up so much time to spend with your loved ones without having to worry about being pulled in two different directions.

5. Go on vacation without guilt

Without feeling like you're leaving someone behind at home, you can go on vacation with your friends and family without feeling guilty about it.

6. Time to relax

Without the pressure of having someone by your side, you're able to focus on what the holidays are all about, which is relaxing and getting yourself rejuvenated for the new year.

7. No pressure to be romantic

Let's be real, romance can be stressful and kind of difficult. So without that added pressure that comes along with Christmas and Valentine's Day, you're romantic side can take a breather.

8. Binge watch a Netflix show with no distractions

You know that show you haven't had time to watch on Netflix? Well now you do with no distractions. So thank your single status for being able to binge watch Gilmore Girls.

9. Wear your favorite sweatpants on Christmas

With no one to impress, might as well wear your ugly sweatpants with 5 different holes in them. We all know those are the most comfortable ones.

10. New Year's parties are way more fun

You aren't obligated to focus on anyone New Year's Eve, so party with your friends and talk about embarrassing college stories.

11. Focus on what's really important: You

Life is full of ups and downs, but the only thing you can do through it all is focus on yourself. You are what's really important, and you don't need a significant other in your life to tell you that.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
