Now, before I begin, let me start out by saying there’s a difference in being “bad” and being “Bad. Ass.” When I say that it is a good thing to be bad, I don't mean bad as in the special effects in "Asteroids." I mean bad as in Kerry Washington in "Scandal."
There is a reason why the good girls go for the bad guys. Being bad is sexy. Gasp! I said it. Why is this? Because being "bad" means you have motive; it means you have purpose and drive and it means you have confidence. Badasses execute confidence in all things, and confidence is never unappealing.
Bad girls don't wait for permission. A true badass chick sees what she wants and goes for it. Sure, you may fail, but if you have enough confidence in yourself (as any badass should), you are sure to succeed if you refuse to give up.
Being bad means being comfortable with who you really are. Being a badass doesn't mean you are "fake," it doesn't make you a "bitch," and it isn't a persona. It means you actually have a bite to that bark. Being bad means you are content in your own skin and you do what you want, when you want, and for your own sake. It means not caring what others think about you, and not being afraid to live your life however you want to live it.
So, the next time someone tells you you're being "bad," thank them. Shake their freaking hand. And tell them, as my spirit animal (Marilyn Monroe) has said before, "Well behaved women rarely make history."
