Believe it or not, it is the friends you make in college who will be with you no matter what. Being away from family, they will be the best support for you. So it is never a bad idea to go out and meet new people.

Getting involved is also a good way to get ideas moving on campus. If you are really looking to change something you do not like, or you want to do something new on campus; you need to voice yourself. Joining clubs that revolve around improving living conditions, and enhancing social life is a great place to start. You can also voice your opinions to the student government, and even go as far as becoming part of it. Really, if you're going to pay to go somewhere for four years then you have every right to make a say on how to make things better, and you should. College is your home away from home. It is important that you make sure it's a good one.

Another plus with getting involved is credentials. The more you do on campus, the more you can add to your resume. Taking up important positions on campus look good on your record. They also show your willingness to work with others and be dedicated to a cause. You can also learn valuable skills by doing this. Such as leadership, teamwork, and communication skills. All of which are to your benefit and are necessary skills you will need to find a job after you're done your four years of schooling.
