In our society, we have idealized being extroverted. Classrooms are awarded for having the teacher who stands on tables to teach, our media calls people "popular" if they hang out with a lot of people and have "friends," and we are always encouraged to speak out in classes. There are obvious strengths to being an extrovert, but people who are introverts are leaders too.
Introverts tend to find their energy in recharging by themselves. We pull our energy from our inner self, higher powers, and even nature. I have heard the common misconception that introverts do not love people, but that is simply not true. We love people, but we do not pull our energy from others. We can sometimes be the bubbliest people, we can enjoy hanging out, we can enjoy travel, we can even speak in public. Sometimes we are quiet, more like background people, and would never dare speak on a mic but that does not make us any less of a leader.
Sometimes a leader is a person who notices someone is left out and slips them an invitation to hang out without anyone else knowing. Sometimes a leader is a person who takes the lead when no one else notices or when everyone else is blindfolded. Sometimes a leader is the person placing notes of encouragement to people they know needs help without signing their name on the bottom.
We do not only need loud leaders that we can pinpoint by hearing them speak or rally others up. Sometimes we need people who never expected to be seen, and that could care less if their name was remembered, as long as they did the right thing.
You are a leader no matter your personality result, no matter if you are afraid to speak in front of crowds of 500 people, and no matter if no one knows your name. You are awesome silent leaders, do not feel less because you lead in different ways.
