In high school, my friend group was talked about and judged for liking to have fun. We knew how to have fun and cared very little about what others thought about us. We skipped class and we went out on the weekends; we weren't the type to be seen at all the games or school events. I knew how to balance my social life with my school life. I worked hard and graduated in the top of my class and still had fun.
At the time, we didn't care how we appeared to others because we had each other and that was all that mattered. We knew that in a short few months all of this would be over and we would be going our separate ways, so we made the most of what we had. Do I have regrets about some of the decisions that we made? Not at all because I can look back on the great memories that we had. But, there are times that I realize that I should have spent more time with my class and I missed out on some great opportunities.
Some people say that going through this was a bad thing, however, I look at it from a different point of view. Now that I'm in college, I don't really find the need to go out every night, getting wasted or spending nights with people that don't matter. I'm more focused on my grades, and my future. I still go out, but not every night because you can only have so much fun doing the same thing every night. Now the people that judged us in high school are testing their limits on how much alcohol they can consume, what its like to have a hangover, to skip class and have fun.
For the people who are going through their partying stage in college, good for you, you deserve it after all your hard work in high school. Just be careful, you are here for your future, don't get to caught up in the fun. I still enjoy the fun every once in awhile as well. Some people never had the desire to go through this stage at all, and that's okay, good for you. I made mistakes, but through those mistakes I learned life lessons and who I am as a person. I don't regret going through the party stage early.
