I attend a lot of concerts. I have been to over 20 concerts in the past 10 years. I’ve seen bands once, twice, and even five times. I have spent over $100 and also as little as $13 on tickets before. People often ask me, why I pay the money to go to concerts or why I go to see an artist that I’ve already seen. My answer is that every concert is different. It has a different set list, a different vibe, and a different audience. There is no concert that is ever the same and that's what makes going to concerts so much fun. I always walk out of concerts thinking it was the best concert I’ve been to until I attend another one and I end up thinking the same thing.
There are so many mixed emotions when attending a concert, but the main one is the excitement, which starts before I even have a ticket. This anticipation and excitement is unlike anything else I’ve experienced. It starts with waiting for an artist to announce a tour and the cities of that tour. Followed by the process of getting tickets and then waiting for the day of the concert. When it finally reaches the day of the concert, I almost want to stop time because I know after tonight I won’t have this concert to look forward to. But then I spend eight hours waiting in line and the anticipation starts again. Finally, I’m inside the venue and waiting for it to start. The minutes before a concert starts are some of the worst and the best. I’m standing in a crowd full of strangers, waiting for the artist to come on stage and once they finally do, I can’t help but scream out of excitement. All of the anticipation was worth it.
Hearing my favorite artists live for the first time are experiences that I’ll remember for the rest of my life. I’ll remember being able to see and hear their passion for music, hearing the different note changes and covers of songs, and the interaction with their fans. These are some of the best moments of any concert. I’ll remember being surrounded by people who love the artist just as much as I do and making friends with those people.
Concerts can be a whirlwind of emotions, but I’ll never forget the excitement leading up to them. I’ll never forget the sense of community formed throughout the crowd. I’ll never forget the feeling of hearing my favorite songs live. I’ll never forget the amount of happiness that attending concerts has brought me. So I attend concerts for the memories and the experience because there isn't anything else quite like it.
