Well, firstly, (1.) he was *so* cute!
His debut during season one? Like, omg. Look at that face! Adorable.
And then (2.) he got hotttt.
Phew. look at *that* face. Steamy.
But we can't just stop there, because his character, played by actor Steven Yeun–call me, babe- was so much more than just that.
3. He was one of the people that saved Rick during the first season.
Yep. After he left our man Morgan– another fave– Rick found himself in a great big world of shit. He got trapped in this tank, in the middle of Atlanta!
Glenn saw him & helped him find a way out. So thanks, Glenn! We love you, baby!
4. And honestly, he was one of the bravest in the group.
Remember when he volunteered to climb into the well and kill that zombie?
Yeah. This one. Gross.
And their plan didn't work after all.

But fuck (lol), I wouldn't have gone down there. Neither would you, I bet.
And that scene where he and Tara were in the tunnel, and she got stuck?
*Omg*
But, moving on to reason #5: He kept the group–especially Rick–grounded through it all.
Even after everything that he & the group had encountered; with the zombies, yeah– but also the badness, & the evil of people, that they all experienced. Like the governor. And the folks at Terminus. Glenn helped them all remember that they weren't *those* people.
And, speaking of Terminus, at another time (feel free to insert your eye-rolling emoji here), let's fucking talk about how bad-ass Carol has become (if you haven't already: watch. those. episodes; as a matter of fact, watch all of the episodes).
Really, we need to talk about all of the women of The Walking Dead at some point, because they are bad.ass (I keep using this phrase because there's really no better way to describe these characters, in my opinion).
But, since our dear, sweet-baby Glenn has recently passed on to the other side (thanks to that angry baby Negan), we've gotta pay tribute now.
So, another reason why Glenn was one of the best characters on TWD is:
6. Because of how he loved Maggie; the way a lot of us would like to be loved.
He was sweet and thoughtful. He respected her. And they had each other's backs in a very real way. I mean, seriously. They took out *herds* of zombies together. It was beautiful.
7. On top of that, Glenn had a saint-like capacity for forgiveness– because let's talk about that dude, Nicholas, from Alexandria; and how he betrayed the group more than once, lost his shit, & tried to actually murder Glenn in the woods

*After* beating his damn ass, Glenn helped him get back to Alexandria.

Then, he forgave him.
And he didn't let Rick find out (because we all know that Season-6-Rick would've killed him. No doubts about it).
He also tried to help him become a stronger, braver, & overall better person.
Still, he couldn't save Nicholas from himself. But he tried. Which was also a very beautiful thing.
In part, I think that Glenn was just an innately good person. Taking it back to that moment during the first episode, where he helped save Rick– just because he could, and it was the morally right thing to do.
Some people are just like that, you know (an important thing to keep in mind when we're facing the badness/evil of people in the real world).
But I also think that because he was so young– around his mid-20s, according to the comic book– he was still fairly impressionable. His interactions with characters like Dale, who'd been invested in preserving the humanity of the group (which he demonstrated in the episode "Judge, Jury, Executioner"– watch it!); and Herschel, who was always talking about faith– having it, and keeping it– impacted Glenn. I think that he carried those lessons with him throughout the show, and preserved that state of mind, almost like, as a tribute to both of those characters after they'd died.
And do you know what? "Glenns" are the type of people we need in the world.
I would say something like "especially now, given all that's been happening." But, do you know what else? We've *always* needed "Glenns", and, to be honest, we always will.
So, shout-out to Steven Yeun for doing such an amazing job with one of my favorite characters! I hope to see more of you and your work soon.
Shout out/R.I.P, to Abraham, played by Mike Cudlitz– who was extremely bad ass through out the show too!
I liked your character *a lot*.
Sorry I didn't mention you til now; it's just that Glenn had been a fave since season one :(.
And finally, shout out to those goddamn writers. You guys broke my heart with that episode ("The Day Will Come When You Won't Be").
You sick, sick fucks. You're great at this shit. Keep it up!
Also, if you don't already, please watch The Walking Dead so we can talk about it more!
It's killer!! (Pun-intended).
And I guess that's that for now.
The End.
