Why Girls Cry

Sometimes we are overrun with emotion.

Why Girls Cry
Buzzfeed

While scrolling through my Facebook feed, I noticed a couple airing their dirty laundry all over social media. Apparently, the boy dumped the girl because she cried over stupid things. I was unsure what to think about that, because I cry all the time. Most of the time when I cry it is over incredibly dumb things. This poor boy has no idea what is going to hit him when he attempts to date any woman. Not all, but a good majority of girls cry for no reason all of the time. I decided to compile a list of reasons girls cry, and the answers are just as amazing as I thought they would be.

"I cried because there was no chip dip in the fridge."- myself

"I used to cry over every episode of the Tyra Banks show."- Ariella

"I wanted my dog to cuddle me and she wouldn't."- Holly

"I woke up and realized I was out of K-Cups."- Courtney

"When my hair has too many tangles and I'm in a hurry."- Alexa

"When you're so hungry but you can't make yourself get up to go get food."- Kathleen

"I cried because I was on a billboard."- Alex

"I walked all the way to class to realize I left my poptart in the toaster."- Natalie

"My boyfriend ate all the guacamole."- Sarah

"I saw my best friend really truly smile for the first time in months after her divorce."- Heather (This is not a 'dumb' reason, it is incredibly sweet and I am currently crying over it.)

"I cried because my coworker said I cry too much."- Taylor

"I forgot to put my favorite blanket in the dryer so I couldn't sleep with it one night."- Emilia

"I wanted a cheeseburger after chapter and the people I was with decided to go somewhere else."- Alexis

"I dropped a pizza and the topping all slid off, and I sat on the floor and cried."- Reagan

"They put too much ranch on my sub sandwich."- Remy

"When Chipotle ran out of chicken."- Abby

"I sat down on my bed one morning and cried uncontrollably because I could decide what to wear to class."- Kearstyn

"I cried because my shower temperature kept fluctuating and I just wanted a luke warm shower."- Mallory

"My moms car was in the drive way so I had to walk five more feet to the door."- Paige

"I cried when I got out of an exam and went to the chickfila in our student center for breakfast at 10am and the cashier said they were out of breakfast food 30 minutes before they were supposed to stop serving breakfast."- Danielle

"Sonic didnt put ice in my drink."- Ashlyn

"When I'm drunk and talk about how much I love America."- Lauren

"I cry a lot during Bob's Burgers because I relate to Tina's struggle too much."- anonymous

"One time I cried because a dog ran by, and it was so pure and white, and it was smiling. Its fluff was just billowing in the wind as it ran, and it looked so free and so happy and I just burst out in tears because it was such a beautiful dog."- Lauren

"My hairdresser did exactly what I asked and wanted and I got in my car and cried."- Cassandra

"I cried while watching Punxsutawney Phil come out on groundhog day this year."- Megan

"I once cried because the mcflurry machine was broken at McDonald's"- Laura

"I cried during the NFL draft."- Sarah

"I cried because my boyfriend made a cheese stick look like a person and I couldn't bare the thought of eating him. I told someone the story a year later and cried again."- Dylan

"When I found out otters held hands when they sleep so they don't drift away from each other."- Maddie

A few other things that multiple girls mentioned: Shonda Rhimes shows, boyfriend eating food, proposals, and animals.

Sorry Fergie, big girls do cry. We cry a lot, but at least we know that we aren't alone in our tears.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
