The 2016 "Ghostbusters" reboot was certainly a controversial movie this summer, with many critics claiming the movie was Sony's way to get quick cash by replicating the beloved franchise in modern day context. There were also concerns that it would make a mockery of the original 1984 "Ghostbusters" movie. I went to go see the film to see what all of the fuss was about. And coming out of the theater, I can definitely say that the film gave me the exact opposite feeling! Here are the reasons the "Ghostbusters" Reboot was as good as it was and why it is a summer must see!
1. The Ghostbuster Girls
The dream team! Leslie Jones, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Kristen Wiig are great choices and work really well together as a really quirky bunch with hilarious chemistry! (also, the girl power works really well!)
2. Spooky Special Effects and Electric Color Schemes
The artist in you will appreciate the awesome effects in this movie! From proton pack blasts, to explosions, to creepy and colorful ghosts, you will not be visually disappointed! The neon colors will definitely remind you of the cheesy yet endearing feel of the original movie, but gives you a fresh look at the ghostbusters of today.
3. A steady stream of laughs
The ghostbusting gang is absolutely hilarious, especially partnered with their dim but dreamy receptionist Kevin (Chris Hemsworth) and there is barely a moment of the movie tht you will have time to breathe with all the laughing you will doing. A real breath buster!
4. Packed with Cameos
No spoilers here, but make sure to keep an eye out for familiar faces from previous ghostbuster movies, as well as celebrity appearances!
Definitely a 3D worthy experience and worth paying a little more for the tickets! There are a lot of great 3D moments, and it really adds the wow factor to this reboot! ( As long as you aint afraid of no 3D ghosts flying at you out of the screen!)
6. Perfectly Creepy and Pleasantly Corny
The balance between silly and spooky is spot on in the reboot and really sticks to the tone of the previous film. With a serious slime factor to boot, you will be really pleasantly surprised throughout!
7. Killer Soundtrack
You will love the catchy tunes that are a mix of the oldies in previous ghostbusters movies and new tracks that will keep you in the zone even after you leave the theater!
8. Holtzmann
If for no other reason, go see this movie solely for Kate McKinnon's Character , Holtzmann! With a quirky personality, geeky charm and a virtually unfazed attitude in the face of danger, she is the life of the ghostbusters party! Definitely my favorite ghostbusters gal!
