Why Everyone Should Be Listening To Chance The Rapper

For the past two months, the only music I have been listening to is Chance the Rapper’s mixtape Coloring Book. The more I listened to his music and learned about the rapper himself, the more I fell in love with him. Not to mention that his personal style aka his various colored iconic overalls deserves a 10/10.

If you don’t know who Chance the Rapper is, he is a 23-year-old rapper from Chicago. But he isn’t like other rappers. Chance refuses to sign with any record label, even though he is one of the biggest artists in hip-hop right now. He explained while on the Ellen show why he hasn’t signed with any label saying, “I’m just trying to be an example for all the young artists that are becoming artists every day and working on their craft and trying to help them avoid the pitfalls of the upper management in music and the non-music side of music.”

Not to mention all of Chance’s music is free. He does not sell any of his music, which means his mixtape Coloring Book is streaming only. The rapper makes his fortune from his shows and his merchandise. Because Chance the Rapper’s music is streaming only, he is making history in the music industry.

Earlier this month the Recording Academy released its nominations for the 59th annual Grammy Awards. Chance is nominated for seven awards including Best New Artist, Best Rap Album, and Best Rap song. Because of Chance’s enormous musical success, the Grammy Awards changed their rules, allowing streaming only music to be allowed into the nominations. Chance the Rapper is the first ever streaming-only artist to be nominated for a Grammy(s).

The 23-year-old is changing the face of music for the next generation of young artist and making history while doing it. So, if you haven’t listened to Chance the Rapper yet, I highly recommend it. Not only he is a musical genius, but also a super cutie.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
