The American education system has seen most of its critiques rise from the fact that most of the students in this nation fail to live up to the rest of the world's standards. In the mid-1900s, we were the world's superpower and no one could challenge our supremacy as the worlds best education. However now, we rank in the mid-20s in terms of the education and our scores have only been going down. This can be attributed to the fact that we have one of the most diverse populations in history and that the expectations for us to succeed are beyond those of other countries.
In urban and developed areas, the education has been fine but in areas of poverty, the results have been less than positive. Our education system has offered us more standardized tests than all other countries combined but we still perform worse. In the end, something must be fundamentally changed so help the US education system prepare for the future.
We cannot stack up to other countries if students like myself are breaking down during tests. This constant pressure and lack of change will only carry over into the future if the constant bombardment of tests does not stop.
