A True Story

Personally, I love crafting! Painting glasses, making cards, creating canvases, I love all of it. Art is a skill that helps me relieve stress, it engages the side of the brain that is creative. It’s trendy to be crafty now-a-days but my family has been crafty since its beginning. You can create anything as long as you have the imagination to think of it! And even if you don't, there's an amazing tool called the Internet to help with the right kind of inspiration!!

Pinterest is the greatest tool for crafting ideas. It's a very easy, user-friendly app for those who have creative aspirations. You create boards and follow other creative-minded people and virtually pin things that you like to your boards that you create! Also, a bonus, the boards and pins never expire, so even if you start planning a wedding for someone who isn't even engaged yet, you'll still have access to the board when that wedding happens eventually.

I like to scroll through and see what other people have done. You can find almost anything on Pinterest! I’ve seen drink recipes that are delicious, song lists to make parties “lit” (my least favorite word ever), and the best one is seeing the canvases people make.

I’ve copied a few ideas from the canvases I’ve seen on Pinterest. They’re usually really nice. It takes some practice to be artsy, but it’s totally worth it! Any skill takes practice to perfect, but if you have a passion for something you should definitely make the time to become better at it.

Crafting means any gift is personal. You can create anything and that means the people you’re giving a gift to is always going to fit their style. Whether they love the movie Tangled or they love the beach, you can create a canvas for everyone’s personal taste. Once you get better at painting and drawing, the crafting will take less time!

The worst part of crafting is waiting for paint, glitter, or glue to dry. Or waiting for the oven to cool down after you bake your glass/ceramic piece to make sure it’s washable. I’ve yet to perfect that skill of baking on paint and markers but practice makes perfect! I’ve found a hairdryer on low and cool or a fan helps speed up the drying process.

As a stress reliever, crafting is my favorite thing. The result of crafting is beautiful too. Finding your passion and pursuing it is always fulfilling. If you have the time, I'd highly recommend trying your hand at crafting. Pinterest is great for finding inspiration if you need it, but you can always just buy some supplies and go crazy if that's more your style!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
