"Cousins are friends that will love you forever." - Constance Richards

We all have that one person that impacts us in a crazy way. The one person that gets us more than anyone else. That person for me just so happens to be my cousin. She is always there for me and always has my back no matter what. She's kind, loving, caring, and the best listener ever. I can truly say that she is my best friend. A best friend is someone who loves you even things get rough, sad,or stressful. A best friend is someone who gets all of the flaws you have, and all of the quirks you have but doesn't judge you for them. A best friend is someone that is basically the same as you but not. They may like the same things you like, or they may not. They get you like no one else does and that's what is so wonderful about it.

My best friend is the most awesome person you will ever meet. She literally likes everything and she is so funny, what could possibly be better than that? Nothing. My best friend knows EVERYTHING about me. Literally everything. We don't keep secrets from each other , we don't lie to each other, we don't talk about each other in a bad way or behind each other's backs. We have a strong bond and we're basically sisters. We're inseparable and that's what sucks.

I love being inseparable with her because I know that I always have her to turn to when things get tough. But being inseparable has its downside as well. I'm currently living in Montgomery for my first semester of college, two and a half hours away from my best friend/cousin and man does it stink. It hurts knowing I won't get to park beside her in the parking lot every day at school and tell her what's currently happening in my life. I won't get to eat Jack's with her on weekends, or Sakura. I won't get to go shopping with her or comfort her if something goes wrong because of how far away I'll be and it's awful. Being so far from the one person that gets you like no one else in the world and helps you get through all the crap is hard and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

I love having my cousin as my best friend. It's wonderful. We don't have to worry about our parents not knowing each other well, or feeling in each other's homes, and around other siblings because we are all related. We can laugh together, cry together, have vacations together, share secrets, and trust like no body's business. Having my cousin as my best friend means I have someone who knows all my secrets but wouldn't dare tell. It means I have someone that will ALWAYS be a part of my life.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
