So many people ask me why I love books. When I say that I like them more than people, they often look at me like I'm crazy, or just laugh and don't take me seriously. However, my friends, I am completely 100% serious.
If given the choice between going to a party, or going to a book store, I would be at that bookstore in a heartbeat. So many times in my life people have let me down. Books on the other hand, have always been there for me. A book has the power to make any day a bit brighter.
Whether it is a romance novel, a deep tale about redemption and forgiveness, or a thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat, a good book has the power to take you places you've never been before. Thanks to my books, I've visited lands filled with mythical creatures, periods in history we only see in textbooks or in movies, or to places I have only seen in dreams.
Books take you out of the situation you find yourself in, whether it be good or bad, and throw you into this new world. Each story, each character, has something to teach you, and I always carry those lessons with me. Whether that's to always follow my dreams, to stick up and fight for what I believe in, or to just simply not stress the little things, these lessons have gotten me through so many life events, and I wish I could thank those characters and authors who taught me.
When I was little, the characters I read about were the only people I truly called my friends. Now, even though I have amazing friends who I love and care about, those characters still hold a place in my heart. Rereading a book is like visiting old friends, and reading a new one is like starting a new adventure, and seeing who you meet along the way.
Each book I read, every page I turn, and every chapter I finish never fails to disappoint. They are all unique in their own way, and each book has something different to offer you, something different to teach you, and something different for you to take away.
The words of these characters and authors have shaped our worlds in ways that we might not even imagine. Whether it was J.K. Rowling teaching us that "even in the darkest of times" we can find happiness. Or Dr. Seuss telling us that "today is our day" and that we're "off to great places!". These words inspire millions of people every day to be the best they can be, and they have definitely inspired me.
