Why Being In Between Is Okay

“In between, underestimated and over expected- Who I was and who I’m gonna be.”- Kelsea Ballerini

Why Being In Between Is Okay

Are finding yourself stuck in between? In between good days and bad ones? In between your head in the clouds and your feet on the ground? In between who you are and who you’re going to be? Me too, don’t worry.

Living in a world of “growing up” before you can legally buy a pack of cigarettes, this “in between” stage is scary. It’s everything you look forward to, but also everything that scares you to death.

Often you hear college students say the phrase “I don’t know what I’m doing with my life” because truthfully, they don’t. You are living in this world where most of the college population is relying on their parents income to buy their meals, pay their rent, and essentially anything else that comes up, and then there is a portion of the college community that is on their own. They’re paying their own bills, buying their own clothes, and honestly just kicking life’s butt.

And then there are people who are taking the minimum 12 hours, living off of their parents income at the age of 22 and still trying to figure who they want to be.

And you know what? That’s okay.

Everyone matures at their own pace. I’m only 18 and I would like to think that I know what I’m doing with my life, but often I give myself a newsflash that I most definitely do not. My last newsflash was when I was laying on the floor of the science building crying about shapes of bacteria. No Bueno. We often find ourselves in those moments, when life has laid you down and essentially kicked you until you bled. But you know what? We stand up. We wipe our eyes and straighten our clothes because we are persistent. We may be stuck in the in between now, but we won’t be forever.

No one figures out who they are immediately. It takes time to find the things you like, the environment you like, and the people who make your heart happy.

So for now, enjoy the in between. Give yourself a pat on the back for waking up today. You are living, you are thriving, and you’ll figure it all out one day. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but one day.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
