Movie director Wes Anderson is known for his quirky indie films, like "Fantastic Mr. Fox," "Moonrise Kingdom" and "The Grand Budapest Hotel," that feature signature bright and vibrant colors palettes. Whoopi Goldberg, however, thinks that Anderson’s films may be lacking a certain color. Specifically, people of color. Anderson primarily casts the same actors in his films, most of whom are white, like Bill Murray and Edward Norton, for example. Goldberg thinks this should change.
On a recent episode of "The View," Jason Schwartzman and Adam Scott appeared to promote their new movie, "The Overnight." Goldberg handed a copy of her CV to Schwartzman, a regular in Wes Anderson’s films. Her intention was to have Schwartzman “pass it on” to Anderson himself. The award-winning actress is really interested in getting a role in one of Anderson's films and even said she would do full-frontal nudity if that's what it takes.
Schwartzman went on to praise Goldberg for the incredible work she has done. Based on her CV, Goldberg is more than qualified to star in one of Anderson’s movies. Goldberg’s point may have seemed to be delivered in a joking manner throughout the interview, but her point about the lack of diversity in Hollywood is all too relevant. The homogeneity of Hollywood can not only be seen in the films it is producing, but in who is being nominated at award shows. Goldberg has a valid point, and Hollywood should feature more people of color.
