"Where do you go to school?"
"Oh. Just ______ community college."
When I was new to community college, I have to admit, I was a bit embarrassed when people asked me where I went to school, because I wasn't off exploring a new state far away from home. But, it's time to get rid of that negative stigma that far too many people have about community college. Take pride in your school, and how far you have come! Speaking from experience, I have never met a single person who regrets choosing to go to community college. Whether it makes sense for you financially, you don't know what you want to do with your life, or you just aren't ready to go away, I guarantee you, you are making the right decision.
So your college experience might be a little different from your friends who are attending big universities, that does not make your quality of education any less better than theirs. Going to a community college doesn't mean your college experience has to be less lively than any other college student's. The students are there to learn, and going to a community college doesn't mean you are unintelligent. I argue that the professors are more involved in their duty as a professor and are more considerate of each student's goals and situations. The professors I have met are committed to helping their students reach their goals, whatever that may entitle.
This may sound cliche, but life is and always will be what you make of it. The more you get involved at your college, the more you are going to thoroughly enjoy your experience. Like any other college or university, community colleges have the capability of bringing people of all different backgrounds and interests together. I got involved with my school through athletics, and I don't think I have made a better decision in my life. Through this, I was able to meet new friends, get involved, as well as fully immerse myself in the (community) college setting. Once you find something you truly enjoy, it becomes that much better when you find people who share a common interest, because chances are they will turn into life long friends.
So let me be the first to tell you, congratulations on choosing to go to community college! It is definitely worth it!
