As a college student, it is hard to think about where “home” truly is. Is it the place we’ve lived our entire life? Is “home” where we feel most comfortable? Is "home" with a certain person or people? Where is home to you?
I call the house that I’ve grown up in “home” but is it really my home? I feel like this is my home, but at the same time, I find myself calling my college dorm my “home” as well.
Dictionary.com's definition of "home" is as follows:
Noun:
1. A house, apartment, or other shelter that is the usual residence of a person, family, or household.
2. The place in which one's domestic affections are centered.
3. An institution for the homeless, sick, etc.: a nursing home.
4. The dwelling place or retreat of an animal.
5. The place or region where something is native or most common.
6. Any place of residence or refuge: a heavenly home.
7. a person's native place or own country.
I would agree that most people call their place of residence their "home," but my definition of "home" is where your heart is. I recently went to the movies with one of my best friends to see "Sisters" starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. There, it was said that "a house is a place, but home is a feeling." This quote stands out to me. Now that I am in college, I have wondered where my home is.
Well, where is home to me?
My home is wherever my family is. I guess you can't pick the people who you are blood related to, but my family includes my parents, brother, and our closest family friends, the Seltzers. If we are all together, that is home to me. It is comforting to have all eight of us in one house as a big happy family even if its only a week long beach vacation in the summer. We get along well without any fighting whatsoever, and we always have a fantastic time.

Honestly, I have learned so much from my incredible family. They have taught me how to love, pray, be honest, loyal, and smile. These seven people have been placed into my life to teach me how to be happy in everything I do. When any one of us need help, we chip in. This family has taught me how to be a hard worker and to always give your all. I am so thankful to have them in my life. I might have not been born into a family where I had sisters, but I definitely picked up two plus a second mom and dad along the way.
