About a month and a half ago, I got hired from a company for a summer internship. I was completely ecstatic and excited for the opportunities that this new chapter in my life would give me. Unfortunately, due to my hectic schedule and their needs, they decided that I was not what they were looking for anymore because the position needed to be filled immediately.
After I received the phone call telling me this disappointing news, I was extremely frustrated and asked God how He could take away something I was looking forward to so much. Then, I remembered advice that I gave one of my best friends once: When God closes a door He opens a window.
I started to look at things a little bit more positively in the following days. Just because I did not get this internship did not mean I was not going to get another. That following Monday I was furiously searching for a new internship online and applied to at least five or six. The next few days passed by and I did not hear anything.
That Thursday I decided I was going to give some of the places I applied to a call when my teacher came into class and told me she had good news. I had told her what had happened with the internship and she handed me a piece of paper with details about another internship that was also paid.
After talking to my career center adviser, I decided to apply to the internship. About an hour after I sent my resume in they gave me a call and I scheduled an interview. When I walked into the office, everyone was extremely friendly and made me feel welcome. The interview was brief and they hired me right on the spot. I knew in that moment that is where God wanted me to be.
During hard times, it is easy to point your finger up and blame God. After all, He is the controller of the universe so wouldn't it be natural to blame Him when things don't go your way? However, you have to remember that God has the best plans for you. Recall Jeremiah 1:5, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." God knows what He is doing for you. Learn to trust in Him.
