I'm not going to sugar-coat it—Morgantown roads SUCK. My parents rarely drive on any back roads when they visit for fear of the potholes swallowing their car whole. You get used to it, but every once in awhile, you're just taken aback. I've recently upgraded to a Jeep, so the roads don't affect me nearly as much as they used to (but I used to drive a Prius, so I feel everyone's pain).
"Why did they even bother paving this road?"
Hiking is a HUGE thing in West Virginia. Some of the roads look like hiking trails that were just paved over... Personally, I like to drive on roads. Not hiking trails.
"What could they possibly be working on?"
We all know that construction is always happening in Morgantown. Unfortunately, this usually means that the roads are in worse condition than when the roadwork started.
"Should I risk the pothole or a head-on collision?"
Sometimes you have to decide if it's more dangerous to drive into oncoming traffic or if you should dive head-first into a car-eating pothole.
"A nice road is just such a luxury."
You don't realize how much you appreciate a smooth road until you live in an area with TERRIBLE ones.
