What Your Tan Lines Say About You

Summer came in hot and the sun has, too. In fact, it's probably done a number on your skin. If you're like most people, your tan lines say a lot about how you're spending your summer days in the sun. Have you been working all day or laying by the pool? Your lines have already given us the answer.

1. Racerback.

Your racerback lines shout out how active you are this summer! Whether it's running every morning or tackling softball practice in the heat of June, your lines speak to others how much you've been outside, and this back design directs the eyes to your built shoulders.

2. Flip-flops.

Leisure and comfort! Probably spending your days outside chasing around the kiddos you're nannying, these lines are a great accessory to your nails that are painted in this summer's trendiest colors.

3. Chacos, Keens or other outdoor footwear.

Did someone say adventure?! You're probably taking nature by storm on your hikes, bike rides and strolls through the local creek. Something tells me you've proud of these lines, too.

4. One-piece swimsuit/lifeguard.

You've sold your soul and summer to the protection of others. That "V" on your back and high-risen neck line marks all the hours you've spent staring at that cool body of water, unable to jump in it unless needed. Props to your boss and place of work if you guard in a two-piece.

5. Birkenstocks.

You're either traveling around some zesty country, taking long walks along the boardwalk or never leaving your Eno.

6. Crocs.

You should go back inside and think about what you've done.

7. Two-piece suit.

The beach/pool/lake/body of water has called your name and you answered! Spending your days soaking up sun and also probably flipping yourself over every 15 minutes to get that consistent color. You keep enjoying your easy, breezy summer.

8. Burn lines.

You're the person who either decided "I'll burn, then I tan," "It'll create a solid base for my tan to start," or stand no chance of getting tan and have accepted it. You know, sunscreen is a cool thing, my friend. You should look into it.

9. Farmer's tan.

Manual labor. Your days have been spent working hard, not hardly working. By August, you'll be blessed with toned arms and a solid line right around your shoulder, almost as if to be a badge symbolizing your dedication to working hard this summer. Bonus points if you have glove lines, as well.

10. No lines.

You probably haven't walked outside since school ended. Maybe you should look into doing that.

11. Socks lines.

Either an athlete or someone who really isn't a fan of letting your toes breathe, these lines not only define your ankle from your leg, but also let us know you're getting from one place to another in a comfortable, close-toed shoe.

12. Watch/bracelets.

I bet you always know what time it is: half-past sunshine. This, and you've decided your relationships are too strong to take off those friendship bracelets that are knotted on forever.

Whether your tan lines tell of the adventures you're having, the hard work you're putting in or the leisure you're enjoying, please be sure to apply that Coppertone and NO-AD! Hard to show off your summer if it's just peeling off. Bonus points if you end up rocking that white lifeguard nose.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
