After spending a self-pampering morning routine indulging in multiple lotions, perfumes, and facials, I realized I have become a secret hoarder of one of the most confidence-boosting beauty essentials out there: nail polish. That’s right, I’ve maxed out my time in socks and closed-toe shoes. Attempting to decide on one shade of polish, I paint one nail and then continue on my search for alternative toe candy. One thing I’ve become certain of is that ladies all have their favorite go-to colors, and it’s obvious. But just when you think the colors and shades of pinks and purples have ended, you reveal you have copious amounts of hidden colors that you hardly touch, but find equally delicious.
Your nail polish color and shade choices really mean all different things. It’s true what they say, some confidence can go a long way, and nail polish can be one of those little things that unlock a brand new confident Beyoncé fierceness.
Bold Pinks
Bold colors are just as they seem; bold and fierce. That glossy finish that screams mature Barbie pink is your inner voice. Bold and flashy nail polish can give a classy edge to any 9-to-5 work week outfit. Perfect for summertime toes in sassy sandals, bold shades of pink keep us young at heart.
Nudes/Mauve
My personal favorite for my fingertips, nude colored nail polish is truly elegant. First of all, it matches with whatever dress you’re wearing out Friday night, and makes for the perfect complement to your favorite chunky bracelets. Just because you don’t make your nails the focal point of an outfit doesn’t mean you’re boring! Nude, beige, and mauve are just some of the most mysterious color swatches. You can dress up any night with a chic mauve or one-up your work meeting with the perfect nude polish to compliment your burgundy lipstick.
Red
Classic, timeless, flawless. Red nail polish is still the most common go-to, and rightly so. A gorgeous red nail can give you just the amount of self-confidence you needed to go talk to that cute guy at the bar. Red nail polish is like a trusty lipstick, it’s the last thing between you and a bold statement or bold move, and it will never let you down.
Experimental Colors
Blue, green, orange, corals, teals, purple, there really is no favorite color. Trying out a strong color to make a statement can be just as empowering as a new haircut. Of course, these colors aren’t as common a staple, they can be just the fun little pick-me-up you needed to get over the midweek. Plus, being open to experimental colors makes you open to more options with your nails. Different file methods, charms and beads, multi-color nails designs, color changing, the possibilities are endless if you’re up to the challenge.
*Bonus; Brown!
Don’t knock it till you try it. Brown? Seems a little anti-climactic doesn’t it? Stop right there, you doubter, and try a creamy chocolate shade on those beautiful toes in the summer time in your favorite gladiator strappy sandals. Dress it up with delicate toe rings and anklets -- you’ll thank me later.
Just remember, ladies, you can make a small statement with the right pop of color to make any ordinary day remarkable. You do you, you gorgeous woman.
