It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Gone are the oppressively hot days of summer; bring on the beautiful, ethereal days of autumn. There’s something magical about the season of fall, and your favorite aspect of it could say a lot about you.
1. Pumpkin spice lattes and other pumpkin-flavored drinks and treats
It’s not fall until Starbucks releases all the pumpkin-flavored drinks, and you happily resign yourself to surrendering your money to pumpkin-flavored everything. While some people complain about the mainstream, you embrace it. You’re a go-with-the-flow type of person, and you enjoy the fads and popular trends; there’s no reason to fight it, they’re popular for a reason. Pumpkin is everywhere because it’s good. Bring on the pumpkin coffee and donuts, they’re synonymous with the season itself.
2. Football
Forget any of the other sports, football is the only real sport, and the rest of America agrees. It’s football season, baby. Whether you’re heading out to tailgate and watch your college team or spending every lazy Sunday afternoon on your couch yelling at your team on TV, football fever has taken over. It’s the center of your social world, and it gives you something to cheer for and bond with other people over. You’re either a jock yourself or are a big fan of the sports world; you’re incredibly passionate, to the point of always insisting you’re right and getting into arguments with people when they don’t agree with your opinion. It’s alright, it’s all in good fun.
3. Changing fall colors
Nothing is better than watching the world around you change color and turn into an oil painting. The orange, red, and gold of the autumn leaves are your favorite part of the season. You love the aesthetic pleasures in life; you like looking at paintings and sculptures, your room is well-decorated, and your notes are probably color-coded. Your instagram is full of beautiful scenic views that could be on the back of a postcard. This season is your element. Everything around you is so beautiful, and it might even tempt you to spend some time outside up until someone asks you to rake leaves.
4. Pumpkin carving
Time to let out both your inner artist and psychopath as you draw on and then stab a pumpkin. You’re a little stressed, what with everything going on in your life, and this is a perfect, seasonable release. Our culture has made it acceptable to practically tear apart a gourd, so you take advantage. You can draw something intricate and creative, or you can go with the traditional triangle eyes and jagged teeth, and then stab the knife into it and completely gut its insides. It seems a little strange and gross, but you’d be lying if you said it didn’t feel good. And you’ll feel proud of your creation, as long as the squirrels don’t get to it on the front porch.
5. Cooler weather
Everyone loves it when summer comes around, but let’s be honest: autumn is a lot more pleasant, at least weather-wise. The bugs have gone to sleep, the breezes are nice and cool, and there’s no heat and humidity trying to suffocate you and make you sweat out of your skin. You’re fond of the simple things in life. You’ve waited all year for liveable weather; all you want is to be able to wear a pair of jeans instead of suffering through shorts season. You don’t ask for much.
6. Fall fashion
Speaking of jeans, it’s time for the best season for fashion. Gone are the months of unflattering tank tops and shorts, here are the months of jeans, sweaters, and boots. Throw the constant worry about shaving your legs and fitting into swimsuits out the window. This is the time to kick back in your hats and jackets while eating those pumpkin muffins. This is your season of self-confidence, when you start to come out of your shell. The colder months can be a little depressive, but not so much for you. Whether your sweaters are the ones “in-trend” or big baggy ones that give you sweater paws, this is your element. You become you in the fall, no matter who that might be.
7. Halloween
