Here's What Your Bedroom Color Says About You

I have been spending a lot of time in Lowes recently (I just moved so we’re doing home improvement stuff, I don't just go there for fun). When I was younger, I loved looking through the paint chips there because you were always finding new colors. Because of the move, I now have a new, unpainted room just calling out for me to paint it, thus, I have reverted back to the younger version of me, wandering the Lowes paint aisles. As I walk around the paint chips I wonder about the kind of people who choose the close to black paint for an accent wall in their house. Everyone knows that how you choose to decorate a room says a lot about you, but what does the base for all those decorations mean?

Green

Green is obviously associated with the great outdoors but what does that say about you? Well, most people seek the outside world when they are in need of a fresh start. For you, this fresh start happens every time you step into your room. The naturalness of this color helps one breathe deeper and lends a hand to your thoughtful and creative mind.

Blue

There are many different shades of blue. If your room is a soft blue, you value relaxation and that is exactly what you use your room for. However, a dark or bright blue on your walls can symbolize a sophistication that radiates off you. No matter what shade of blue is in your room, you are dependable and loyal. Blue is a beloved color no matter where you come from, and the same can be said about the person whose room has painted that color. There are people from every walk of life that can lean on you when they need.

Orange/Red

I lumped these together because, truthfully, I've never seen someone who has painted their room this color. But if your room is one of these colors, I would assume you are a bold personality. While you may be bold you are also reserved. You have the confidence to pull off an extreme color, but you don’t feel the need to brag about.

Pink

Pink is the color of the heart. It is gentle and soothing, alluding to the fact that you have a tender grace that is deeply admired. You are understanding and kind. Though not all pinks are created equal. The previous statements fit well with a soft pink color, but the other end of the spectrum is a different story. If you are in the hot pink realm of pinks you are a social butterfly and proud. You are outgoing, loud and spunky. You know what you like and don’t feel like you should have to change to fit what other people think.

Purple

Purple tends to be a color that people can either take or leave. This is just because it is a complex color and that can translate to the person who lives in a purple world. Your complexity adds a level of interest to you meaning people will either take the time and invest in you or will leave before they see your many layers. You’re sophisticated and always up to date on popular trends and topics. Soft shades of purple tend to be meditative, which leaves you rejuvenated after you wake up.

Yellow

Yellow symbolizes the sun pretty much everywhere leading one to believe that you have a bright personality. You’re extroverted and lively, which makes it really easy for people to be drawn to you. Yellow is such a welcoming color that it shows you are always open to people coming to you for anything they may need.

White/Off white

People might say that this is boring or it makes you bland. I believe it is quite the opposite. Your walls are a blank slate that is open to change, just like you. A clean look like this is indicative of your tidy style. You are organized and extremely logical. You do not need flashy things to make yourself stand out, you shine all on your own.

Beige/grey

You aren’t fussy. You like to keep things simple. The neutralness of it means you aren’t afraid of change. These colors tend to be elegant, social and inviting. You are also quite practical but this can also be taken as playing it safe. Neutral colors tend to recede into the background and make way for other accents. Don’t let your shyness overpower the great things about you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
