We've all been there; struggling to make ends meet, struggling to pay for food or gas or just to have a single dollar in your wallet.
I'll admit I didn't know the true value of money until I realized that an average person would work an entire hour for minimum wage, which in most cases is below ten dollars. But then deduct taxes and you'll wonder why you even bother working. And that's when I realized the trick to the summer and how to make money fast; work harder.
I started out like everyone else; only wanting to work mornings, doing the bare minimum, anything to get out of a job and back to summer. But then it hit me, what's the point? So that's when I increased my hours and made my first priority driving my hour load up. I took shifts, and took on doubles, and watched my paychecks sky rocket. I saved, and spent and watched my back account go up and down, but at the end of the day I knew I worked hard for that money, so here's what I've learned...
Customer service has taught me that even when you're nice to people, they won't always be nice to you. And in the food industry, I've learned how weird it is to have another person serve you. And I've watched people fight over a free tote bag and yell at each other about sales. I've seen first hand how coupons will make customers do crazy things. And I've done it all for a paycheck at the end of every two weeks, yet I wouldn't change a thing.
