Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
What does this mean? Trusting in the Lord means putting your issues in His hands instead of your own. It means to surrender your worries to Him. It means instead of worrying and stressing over the things you cannot control, knowing that God will take care of it. Submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight. One way to submit to Him is doing all things for His glory.
1 Corinthians 10:31
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
So in everything that we do, we have to keep God in mind. Avoiding sin, fleeing temptations and controlling our emotions with His help. In doing this, God sees your obedience and your willpower in following Him. Many people only want the less worrying part, but not the obeying and submitting to God and His will part.
However, these two go hand in hand, never going without the other. Make no mistake, even in obeying God's will, we will have trials and tribulations but we will get through them with much more ease than if we were not to have God's guidance at all.
In trusting God, we trust His plan for our lives even in the midst of our problems. We know that our problems are merely building and strengthening us in the end to glorify Him. In trusting God, we remain obedient to Him. We do not fall away from Him just because we have issues no matter how difficult they may seem.
Many times, Christians begin to feel discouraged because of their problems. They begin to question God and wonder why He isn't intervening when they want Him to. But that's simply not how God works and that isn't how trust works either. He never promised a perfect life, but He did say He will get us through it and make our paths straight.
1 Corinthians 10:12-13
“So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”
God will make a way out for you, but first, you must trust in Him. He will not fail you, but you must first have faith in Him, the God you claim to believe in. He will never give you more than what you can bear, so never think that your problems are too tough to overcome because God does indeed provide a way out.
He provides a way that will ultimately strengthen and mold you into a person you never thought you could become, in the best way possible. But you must make the conscious decision to trust Him. Obedience and trust in the Lord go hand in hand. So make sure when you say that you trust in the Lord, your actions reflect that trust.
