As high school begins, students may find themselves pondering, scrolling through the most prestigious universities in the world, and hopefully, finding the most suitable one. For some, this may be an easier task, but for many, this is considered as one of the hardest task one has to be face so far in their life. When choosing a college, many may say the location of the university should be prioritized, however, it is advised to search for the college that perfectly suits your academic goal. Thus, in order to choose the perfect major for the perfect school, I have personally compiled a list of information on 5 popular majors.
Engineering:
Engineering is the creation of innovative ideas that can influence the world through the use of science and mathematics. Engineering is by far one of if not, the highest-paying college major. There are numerous fields that require engineering, ranging from petroleum to biomedical engineering.
Computer Science:
As the world slowly evolves, advanced forms of technology are constantly needed. As a student majoring in computer science, the main concept that surrounds you is logic and the ability to come up with methods to solve problems. Fields ranging from virtual reality to gaming technology all require the art of computer-based problem-solving.
Government/Political Science:
This major deals with current events and constantly changing data that requires a lot of analysis. The term "government" almost instantly bores students who don't quite understand what it means. Instead of philosophy, foreign affairs, and public policies, think communication, and the understanding of history and culture. Political science majors provide a diverse career path, which ranges from a lawyer or a politician to a journalist.
Biology:
Biology is a life-changing major; pretty much the study of the world. It ranges from interesting microscopic organisms to cloning procedures. Many lethal diseases have yet to be cured, thus, studying biology as a college major could even lead to you finding the next life-saving cure for an illness or a deadly disease. Biology majors don't necessarily mean medical school. They are also connected to the fields of majors such as biotechnology and nanotechnology.
Business/Economics:
A wide variety of skills is required to be successful in this major. You'll have to be a leader with talents such as the ability to solve problems, make smart decisions, and communicate with many people. You also need to have a strong and clear mind with principles and theories of accounting, finance, marketing, etc. A business major comes with many job opportunities, however, there is a lot of competition in this field.
The perfect college major is going to be hard to find. As a result, a common way to find it is to first discover the compatibility between your own characteristics and a potential career path. When you find that future job best suited for you, then begin the search for the college that best prepares you for that career.
