Yesterday, I was bored. It wasn't necessarily that I had nothing to do, but rather that I didn't feel like doing anything I could think of. I constantly felt like there was something I wanted to do, but I couldn't quite grasp what it was. I get this feeling every once in a while, as I suspect most people do , yet every time I get it, I'm caught off-guard nonetheless. Each time I'm caught in the situation of feeling both like I have nothing to do (while definitely having things to do but not wanting to do any of those things), I can't quite figure out how to get out of that mood. Of course, I eventually do, whether I'm distracted by something, or I literally have to do something (like schoolwork), or I just fall asleep eventually. It's difficult for me to give myself advice about it, but for some reason, I find it fairly easy to give you advice if you find yourself in the same situation as me.
The first step to overcoming this feeling is by doing a few push-ups if you can. If not, clench your fists and start pretending that you're punching or kicking someone--make sure that there's no one in front of you before punching the air or a pillow. I said a few, but actually, keep doing push-ups, punches or kicks until you feel considerably tired. This might not have removed your boredom, but now you probably feel a little more pumped up.
Next, find the nearest book to you and read a few pages. Or, read half a page and then get too bored to continue. Perhaps just read the first sentence. Put the book down after you've read from it. Congratulations, now you're like 0.00001% smarter.
Now that you're pumped up and also somewhat more knowledgeable than you were, lay face down on your bed and scream into your pillow for as long as you feel like. If you have any frustration left over from your seemingly unbeatable boredom, this should remove some of it. Afterwards, sit up, face the wall, and scream softly at it. There's not really any reason for it, but imaging people softly screaming at walls while reading my articles amuses me.
Now that you've made it this far, you should either be feeling considerably less bored or very ridiculous. You might even feel sleepy, in which case you should take a nap. Once you wake up, go to the nearest person and scream softly at them. (Just kidding.)
The final step is to find a nearby person and see if you can run any errands for them. If not, offer them a quarter and see if they'll do errands for you. If neither of these work, you can either move on to the next nearest person or hide behind the current person until they forget you're there so that you can scare them.
After you've run out of people, repeat these steps in their entirety a few times until you're not bored anymore. However, if you're still bored and can't find anything to do after repeating the steps ten to twenty times, stare at a wall and softly scream for the rest of the day.
