With this Thanksgiving rapidly approaching I thought it would be best to turn away from the recent negativity circulating our media sources. After a year of monumental events our world has seen, we should focus more on all of the positives that have occurred since last Thanksgiving. Besides the health of our families and success of those close to us, there is a bunch to be thankful for this year.

You saw the crucifixion of hundreds over Facebook because of the debate, which made your bad days a little bit better.

We were introduced to dessert lasagna

Chewbacca mom made America laugh just because she was laughing

This little girl got really excited meeting Pope Francis (https://vine.co/80c4bef4-0513-4847-8c5e-01c5861829...)

Jimmy Kimmel gave us yet another funny "Hey Jimmy Kimmel, I told my kids I ate all their Halloween candy"

We watched Jojo finally find her future husband

This meme blessed our timelines

Leo finally won his Oscar

The first flower was grown in space

Cuba reopened its borders

Pokemon Go got people increasing their daily steps by thousands for the summer

Michael Phelps became the world's most decorated Olympian

Ari Schultz became the youngest baseball recruit to Assumption College at age 4

Obama and Joe Biden's love was fully publicized during their last few months together.

A ton of people got to see color for the first time because of color blind correction glasses

200 strangers attended Serina Vine's, a WWII veteran, funeral, who had no family

PANDAS ARE NO LONGER ENDANGERED

One tortoise, Diego, is the ultimate player and saved his entire species from extinction by single handedly having 800 offspring

Finding Dory came out

The SNL election coverage had everyone rolling the entire election

The Cubs broke their 108-year wait for a World Series Title

India had 800,000 volunteers planted 50 million trees in 24 hours, breaking a world record

The Ozone layer is repairing itself

So no matter what we all have some things to look back and smile at. Through the tumult of our society, there is a constant step towards a healthier and happier world.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
