I would consider myself to be a
fairly friendly person. Despite my RBF (resting bitch face), if you talk to me,
I will leave you with laughter and a smile.
I actually love talking and meeting
new people. I love being with my friends
and I love to laugh. How is it that I am social yet I hate people? What course
of events led for this occurrence? Well, I have an explanation. Take a minute
to understand my reasoning.

My downfall would be that I take close consideration of, "those in my environment;" being people I may interact with and their feelings. “That’s not a downfall,” you say? Well, that is where you are partially correct. This awareness is a blessing as well as a curse. While I may make careful deliberation on the effects my actions may have, others most likely are not. This is where the whole, “I hate people,” comes into play.
Over the summer, my favorite make-up store was having a giveaway for loyal customers. A woman in the same aisle as me had left her child and carrier in the middle of the aisle. Her child found it amusing to open products and give herself a makeover. The mother’s reaction? She continued to search for eyeshadow palettes with no concern whatsoever. The mother even commented on how cute her daughter looked. It was in this exact moment that I realized my reasoning for "hating people".
People are naturally selfish. It is engrained within our DNA. Sharing is an attribute that must be taught. An example of this would be two young children playing. Have you ever realized that when one young child sees another playing with a toy, they must automatically need to play with that exact toy? From a young age, children display the selfish attribute and although sharing is taught, there are adults who still exemplify selfishness.
Due to humans being naturally selfish, it is hard for people to be considerate. Whether it be walking without motivation in the middle of the sidewalk or inviting a friend somewhere and not answering the phone, inconsideration is the root of all evil, or ‘hating people.’
Next time you hear someone say, “I hate people,” don’t look at them crazy. Don’t be offended or take it personally. Just understand that there is a method to this madness. We all have our reasons. Hopefully, you are not their reason.
