What My 19 Laptop Stickers Mean To Me

My laptop always knows how to make me smile.

My laptop stickers mean a surprising amount to me. Since I got my first computer when I was 13, I had it totally covered in stickers that encompassed everything that I love from Harry Potter to Disney to politics and sleeping. Now that I officially have a laptop that doesn't shut down every 30 seconds (I had a Chromebook for six years), I decided to reward myself with my first ever RedBubble order.

Each of my stickers shows a little piece of my personality and makes me happy every time I pull it out of my case:

1. "frickin zazzed"

Okay so to someone who doesn't understand, this looks like some weird cultish catchphrase. Since I'm still an emo child at heart, I absolutely adore Daniel Howell. The one time he used this phrase, I adopted it as my own personal motto. For this reason, it now adorns my laptop to confuse people who think I drink a lot of Redbull.

2. Ariel

As I said, I love Disney. For the longest time, I was terrified of the movie "The Little Mermaid" because of Ursula. Once I got older (yes I was 13 I don't like to talk about it), I finally forced myself to watch the movie before I went to Disney World and absolutely fell in love with the music and the artwork.

3. "The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell."

My best friend and I say this literally all the time because it is genuinely the only thing either of us remembers from honors biology sophomore year of high school. Also, it's really funny when people walk up to me because they think I'm a bio major and then they realize that I don't know anything about science except for this fact.

4. "Love not hate makes America great"

I am a firm believer in this statement. After everything that has transpired since the election last November, I think it's incredibly important to espouse messages of love and support into the universe to hope and pray that we will one day find the version of the world where we do not hate each other and everyone can understand that we are all equal.

5. PROM

This sticker is a little shout out to my senior prom that was Philadelphia themed. I will never cover this sticker because it reminds me of my roots and brings me back home when I see it. Shout out to Pennsbury High School!

6. "S"

Okay so everyone has their basic "this is what school I go to" sticker and this is one of mine. My favorite Penn State logo is the big "S" that stands for "State" and I was so excited to find it as a sticker.

7. John Oliver "Endorsed"

I'm incredibly politically involved and active. I was actually introduced to John Oliver by my boyfriend and my AP US Government teacher. I fell in love with his way of exploring in depth with the news while making it humorous. It gives such a fresh take on news and journalism that as a journalism major, I appreciate to the highest degree. Being endorsed by him is the dream.

8. Cat

This cat saying "not today" is me in a nutshell. That is all.

9.REVOLUTION

I support gay rights. 'Nuff said.

10. Disney Parks

Disney World is my happy place (besides State College). I'm also obsessed with the history of the parks so I thought that having the park years would give it that extra oomph to make me smile every day.

11. Phil Lester

My inner emo also loves AmazingPhil. His wholesome content and lovable personality always brighten my day, even when I'm absolutely miserable. He is one of the people I would like to meet most in the world. After seeing him and Daniel Howell on tour a year or so ago, I was awed by their loving personalities that showed even when they weren't behind the screen.

12. Stitch

I relate to Stich on about one million levels. Always hungry, consistently angry about nothing, awkwardly high "badness" level, small, it's basically me!

13. Rapunzel

Tangled is one of my favorite Disney movies made since I was alive. I legitimately cry every single time I watch it. When I met Rapunzel in Disney World in March, I almost sobbed my eyes out because her story and determination mean so much to me.

14. Old Main

Old Main is one of my favorite buildings on Penn State's campus. Walking across the lawn on my way to class always fills me with excitement and makes me feel like I'm definitely in the right place.

15. Penn State

Self-explanatory— I obviously go here.

16. "The Great Comet"

"Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812" is one of my favorite musicals in the world. It's adapted from the novel "War and Peace" and is one of the oddest musical concepts ever, but that makes it absolutely fantastic. I bet you never thought you would enjoy Russian techno music. Listen to the album, and you will.

17. Birdie 2017

When that absolutely iconic bird landed on Senator Bernie Sanders's shoulder during a campaign event, American socialists and Democrats and so did I. I wish Bernie has won the nomination, and this is my little way of supporting him still.

18. "I just saw a dog"

I think my dad and my boyfriend get a text like this at least four times a day. Anytime I see a dog I forget about everything else, especially if it's a corgi.

19. Philadelphia sign

I come from right outside Philadelphia and seeing that exit sign always brings a smile to my face. It's my favorite city in the whole world and nothing else can ever measure up to it in my mind

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
