I am currently in a Creative Writing class at 9:30 on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Poetry is a huge part of what we are learning and I don't think people understand how important poetry is to writing. The beauty of it is being able to write whatever you want, formed into however many lines you want, with your name on it. To me, that is inspiring.
When you think how our world works today, the fist thing that maybe pops into your head is how awful it can be. How much hate there is, but what people don't realize is, in reality, how much love actually is still there. People often believe that love is just avaliable in a relationship. But thats not the truth, love is in the little things that make life that much bigger and better. This article describes what love means to me, which I am sure many of you can relate too.
So with those two paragraphs being said, this is my ode to love and what it means to me.
Love is being in a room full of laughter,
Sitting with your best friend in complete silence,
Laying with your mom gossiping for hours,
Hugging your brother after you haven't seen him for what feels like forever,
Sushi dates with dad,
Endless arguments over yoga pants with your sister.
Love is falling asleep to the rain,
Walking through a field of sunflowers,
Running along a path next to a beautiful lake,
Leaves changing telling its spring, summer and than fall,
The way the wind blows and we can’t see it but we can feel it.
Love is sharing happy stories about someone who passed away,
Reliving memories at the exact same spot,
Remembering certain details so vividly and smiling,
Missing someone so much it hurts.
Love is listening to a great song for the very first time,
Being excited to watch someone open presents,
Waking up on Christmas and Easter mornings, even at 20 years old,
Being genuinely happy for someone.
Love is the way the waves kiss the beach and then leave,
Watching the sunset on the sand,
Smelling the cool, salty summer air,
Jumping into the ocean for the first time.
Love is missing someone the minute they leave,
A simple good morning text,
A kiss on your forehead, a grab of the hand,
A long hug saying everything is going to be okay,
the whole, "I will see you soon".
Love is falling asleep with no worries,
How the sun never fails to rise and the moon to set,
Hearing the soft crickets outside your window,
Laying in the dark after a long day with your own thoughts.
Love is bliss.
Love is hate.
But, Love is Love.
