So during my winter break, I did what all respectable college students would do, I binged watch Netflix. What was the show I was watching, nothing else but Seth MacFarlane's "American Dad!" I learned some interesting life lessons. Shockingly enough, there are some great things in the show.
1. Always stick close to your family.
This show has one main goal, to show how important family is and how no matter what it is important to love your family. Stan may have an unconventional family, but he would do anything for their happiness.
2. Politics do not mean anything in relationships.
Politics tend to come up in "American Dad" more than once (an episode). However, at the end of the day, it means nothing. Stan and Haley represent the two most drastic political groups, but they love each other anyway. This lesson should be applied to real life, not just television.
3. Even the weirdest moments have lessons.
So people learn lessons from everything they encounter and do in life. Sometimes it seems that there is nothing to learn, but "American Dad" teaches us to learn something from anything. Roger gets the family into all sorts of issues, but overall they get something out of nothing.
4. Never be predictable.
One thing "American Dad" always does, is that it brings new things to the show. For example, the episode "Blood Crieth Unto Heaven" brought a brand new spin to the show, and helped give the show a very artistic edge. Also, the show inserted the element of music which was something interesting.
5. Try not to shoot your family.
It happens commonly in the show, the family shoots each other. Now while this is a problem in real life, the show is a show, so eventually everyone comes back. Family is interesting and they might be crazy, but that doesn't mean you have to shoot them, even if the desire comes up.
