'Friends' Taught Me How To Be A Good Friend

I'm not talking about your good pals, unless you feel like you actually know them, I'm talking about the iconic TV show based around six pals lives in New York. The pals are Joey Tribbiani, Rachel Green, Phoebe Buffay, Ross Geller, Monica Geller, and Chandler Bing. There's so much drama and hilariousness that happens it's hard to explain, especially the who ends up with who. So instead of giving a boring synopsis, I'll just tell you what I learned from the characters.

Joey Tribbiani

Joey has a love for food (as we all do), and also an equal love for girls. He is the chiller one of the group and brings a lot of good laughs to anyone in need. Joey taught me that it is OK to be laid-back. Life is coming at you from all angles so don't worry so much. Instead, order a pizza and kick back, take a deep breath and laugh a little. What's the point in rushing so much? We'll get there eventually.

Rachel Green

Rachel used to be a stuck up girl who relied on daddy's money to get her through life. But with the help of her new group, she discovered that there is nothing scary about hard work. She then moved on to work for top fashion companies, like Ralph Lauren. So it's exactly like it is, Rachel taught me that hard work and jobs aren't as bad as they seem they are. If you really push yourself and utilize your talents, you can really make it far.

Phoebe Buffay

Phoebe is the "mysterious" one in the group. I say this because no one really knows what is going on with her, or really understands any of her family dynamics. Phoebe relies on fortune and horoscopes and she believes that greater things are out there. She questions life and doesn't try to fit of it into the "norms" (although for some family aspects maybe she should). Phoebe taught me that it is okay to live outside the box. What's exciting about being typical all the time?

Ross Geller

Ross is the brother to Monica, and he is a sensitive, know-it-all paleontologist. Ross likes being right and proving his point, but he also knows when he's gone too far. Ross taught me that it's OK to be sensitive. He taught me that it's OK to feel what you feel. And with that, he taught me that we have to be considerate of others feelings, too.

Monica Geller

Monica is sister to Ross, and she is incredibly OCD and likes to have everything a certain way. She doesn't do anything at half speed, and although it can hinder her (because it's a TV show and anything can really happen) it's what she taught me. To not be afraid of going full speed and doing what you're comfortable with. She taught me that it's alright to never give up. Also, no matter what anyone thinks, to always do what you feel is right.

Chandler Bing

Chandler is a funny dude that's always ready to laugh and give a laugh. Chandler's always on the search for happiness and love (and finds it trough Monica). He never fails to cheer everyone up and always knows how to find the good in the bad. And that's what he taught me. To always look for the good in the bad and to always keep a smile and a laugh on. To always try to help out others because we all deserve to be happy.

Although each character taught me something different, over all, the show taught me that having a trustworthy group of friends is very important. They can bring you love and light and its always good to have someone there for you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
