We live in a world where we've always been told to reach for the stars, but what we weren't told about was just how difficult the road was ahead. Sure, everyone can shoot for the stars, but for a female in the 21st century, there are a lot of people that will try and keep you down. Society has projected the image of the woman we should all strive to be, but that image doesn't fit everyone.
The ideal woman is a size two, 120 pounds at most, and will comply to the opinion and requests of our male counterparts. That sounds fine and dandy, but I will never be a size two again, and that's just fine with me.
Physical appearance plays a strong role in relationships nowadays, and many girls are turned down and put down because they aren't a size two. People are so quick to jump to conclusions based on a woman's appearance.
A way a woman dresses is CLEARLY the only factor that decides her personality. If a woman is out in public in tight jeans, a low cut shirt, a face full of makeup, and high heels, she's an 'easy' target to bring home for a one night stand. If a woman is out in public in sweatpants or leggings with a baggy sweatshirt and no makeup, she has no goals or ambitions.
In the workplace, women are looked down on if they don't dress 'appropriately.' In society's eyes, a woman in the workplace should not show any part of her chest, so turtlenecks every day, and pants or a skirt that end just above the ankle. Only a handful of women feel comfortable dressing this way. Why should women that are comfortable and proud of their bodies have to hide behind clothing because their male counterparts can't be handle what a real woman looks like?
Where did this idea of the perfect woman come from? From a man that doesn't have to deal with half of the things women do. What men fail to see is the time and effort it takes for a woman to look and dress that way we are all expected to. Women in the 21st century are strong and independent. We have found our way into higher positions despite all of the obstacles in our way. High five, ladies! Here's to making 2016 our year to come out on top again.
