“You have to be thankful for Christmas music”, my friend Molly Borucki quirkily laments. When it comes to Christmas music, people are completely divided. One side is ready to start blasting Justin Bieber’s “Mistletoe” Christmas album, the other side is content to start listening December 22nd.
As Jimmy Buffet quoted in his song, “Santa Stole Thanksgiving”, Turkey Day and Black Friday has taken the magic and surprise out of Christmas. If you start too early, the anticipation of presents under the tree, snow, having fun times with loved ones will be dissipated by Christmas Eve.
Buzzfeed did a poll of “When is an acceptable time to begin listening to Christmas music?” and an overwhelming 40% of people agree that the best time is the day after Thanksgiving. Second to this was 22% who thought December 1st was the most ideal time.
Both of these days are reasonable, Thanksgiving puts you in a giving and holiday mood. December 1st is the day that Hallmark does it’s 25-day countdown of Christmas movie marathons. You can’t go wrong!
