What I Learned First Semester of Sophomore Year.

There is Extreme Emphasis On How Messy I can be.

What I Learned First Semester of Sophomore Year.

I am going to be very vulnerable writing this. This semester was not my semester. I struggled with turning in assignments on time, what I want to do with my life, I experienced a high rise in my anxiety, and the list continues. My freshman year seemed so much easier than this year, then again that's how it's suppose to be. I felt like I lost who I was. I've been much more motivated than how I feel now. I feel like I've let people down. Overall, this semester it feels has been as epic fail.

So, as we approach the end of this semester (Thank you Sweet Baby Jesus) I made a list of everything I have learned, and still am learning.

1. Failing is a verb, not a noun. I am not a failure, but I learn from those mistakes. It's okay to fall as long as you learn how to fly.

2. My attention span in class literally only lasts 45 minutes.

3. I have a lot of BIG dreams but I need to do the equivalent when it comes to school work in order to get there.

4. I am okay with my own company, and a small circle.

5. In regards to #4, your tribe affects your vibe- choose wisely.

6. I really, really want to go to New York.

7. Cafe food isn't so bad when you're broke.

8. Remember the dream, and keep remembering it.

9. Professors are imperfect too- have mercy on them.

10. I want to be a News Reporter. (Thanks Dr. Borton)

11. And then I want to teach it on a college level along with communications. (Another thank you to Dr. Sawyer)

12. Don't stress about those who don't get to see you and criticize you for it.

13. Freshman 15 is the new Sophomore 16.

14. Let yourself grow out of who you used to be. Stop trying to maintain a reputation, it's time to decide who YOU want to be.

15. Stay away from those who still think they're in high school.

16. Caffeine intake does not help anxiety. I highly do not recommend.

17. It's okay to feel scared or nervous. You should feel those things.

18. Be open to communication in whatever situation, be honest about how you feel. And don't sugarcoat it.

19. Constructive Criticism is there to help you, not hurt you.

20. And Finally, Things will keep changing, so embrace it.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
