As you begin to grow older, you soon realize all of those things your mother had told you as a child, are actually usually true. When you’re younger, you may have disregarded the advice your mother gave you, or things she said. Now that I am older, I am beginning to realize that my mom was right.
So what are moms right about..?
She will spot your fake friends before you do. Do you remember when you had *insert name* over? Remember how you told your mom that you’re newly best friends with this person and “get along so well.” Your mom probably said something along the lines of, “Is he/she a nice person?” Or maybe the “Are they a good influence?” As years have gone by, are you still friends with that person? Probably not.
Sunscreen. Enough said. I can’t even count the amount of times I’ve gone to a lake or the beach and my mom has asked, “Do you have sunscreen on?!” The common white lie response is always, “Yeeeees.” Think about the amount of sunburns you could have avoided and the smile on your mom’s face when she knew she was right.
Smart shopping. Leave it to your mom when it comes to shopping for school, work, or yourself. You might find something you absolutely NEED, but chances are, your mom knows a better place where you can find what you’re looking for and more.
When you need to chill. Moms are the first to see that you’re about to flip. They’re the ones who will pull you aside and ask if everything’s okay. After a quick five-minute intervention, your mom has probably saved you from yourself.
Time. Your mom seems to exaggerate how long it will take to get the whole family out of the house for vacations. However, they’re almost always right it will take longer that we all thought. Half of the time, it’s because they’re the ones taking so long to get ready. (oops)
In conclusion, know that your mom is going to be there for you throughout your life. Sometimes, you don’t want to hear what they have to say, but just keep in mind the amount of times they’ve been right.
