What Adele's Grammy Speech Really Meant
ET Online

After her five-year hiatus, Adele came back to the music scene last year with her album "25" that took the world by storm. Her hit single, "Hello" was played continuously for weeks on end, quickly becoming everyone's favorite song. The 2017 Grammy Awards can be considered Adele's second comeback, as she was nominated and won a total of five Grammys, including Album of the Year. Not only did she win five awards, she sang a tribute to the late George Micheal with his song "Fastlove". During her emotional tribute to the icon, she insisted she begin again, stating she had to get it right. I think we can all agree that she absolutely nailed the tribute.

Along with her moving tribute, Adele took the audience by surprise in her final acceptance speech for Album of the Year. Immediately after accepting her award for best song of the year for "Hello", she was called onto stage one last time.

It was highly anticipated that this year would be a battle of the queens-Adele and Beyonce, to be exact. However, Adele made it very clear that this was no battle. During her speech, Adele shocked the crowd by stating she could not accept the award because of everything "Lemonade" had done for the world. The world found out that Beyonce is Adele's "artist of her life". Aside from the personal praise, Adele brought the queen herself to tears. Adele's brilliant and beautiful speech has a deeper meaning than just acknowledging a wonderful album.

Adele's speech being centered around her comeback and Beyonce's work is a beautiful example of women supporting other women. Rather than being upset that she lost, Beyonce stood and clapped as Adele stood on the stage accepting an award they were both nominated for. The love they showed for each other was astounding, showing that, even though they were "competing" against each other, even two of the most iconic women in today's society can come together and support each other no matter what.

Along with speaking so highly of Beyonce, Adele revealed to the world that she is just like any other woman. Struggling with being a mother and having a career is even possible for Adele. It was beautiful to hear and uplifting to know that it is perfectly normal to struggle in your life, no matter who you are in the world.

So thank you, Adele. Thank you for showing the world what a gracious and humble woman you are. We were all watching, and we appreciate all you do.
