West coast best coast? East coast beast coast? Which coast is better in terms of spending your Christmas at? One is a fun-filled time with warm weather at the beach and one is a chilly afternoon filled with snowball fights and snowmen making. The main difference is the weather: warm weather vs. cold weather.
When talking about the west coast, the main Christmas traditions are taking drives to the beach and watching sunsets with your close friends and family. With the warm weather on the west coast, there exists a minimal amount of snow and more of the perfect, breezy weather. People take hikes on sunny mornings with their friends and they do many warm weather activities such as have gatherings and fun games at the park. Because of the lack of snow, the west coast resorts to activities that are centered more on the warmth of the outdoors. Being from the west coast, on Christmas day, I sometimes take a morning hike with my family or go to the park during the afternoon and participate in some fun and games.
When talking about the east coast, the main Christmas traditions have to be playing in the snow and building snowmen and having snowball fights with your family and friends. The east coast is very centered on the snowy, chilly weather in that all the activities are very different from the west coast. You see families with little kids all bundled up having snowball fights with each other and just having lots of fun in the snow. Especially on the east coast, the Christmas traditions, in addition to enjoying the snowy weather, is mostly staying in and keeping warm. Lighting up a nice fire and gathering around the fireplace enjoying nice, warm drinks and just enjoying your family’s and friends’ companies are the best Christmas traditions.
However, when talking about the similarities that the west coast and the east coast share in terms of how each location celebrates Christmas, everyone is with their loved ones, family and friends, and in the end, all come together to enjoy a nice Christmas dinner and open presents. Both coasts have traditions in decorating the Christmas tree and just being in the Christmas spirit. In addition to the typical Christmas traditions of decorating the Christmas tree and enjoying a nice Christmas feast together, Christmas time on both coasts is all about staying in and enjoying each others’ presents. Also, a very popular tradition in both coasts, especially with young adults our age, is spending a Friendsmas which is a nice Christmas gathering with your close friends and exchanging gifts with each other, aside from the typical family gathering.
The main difference between Christmas on the west coast and Christmas on the east coast is the weather. What we do during Christmas day such as snowball fights or driving to the beach is different, but at the end of the day, we all come together and sit around the Christmas tree or fireplace and just simply enjoy our family’s and friends’ companies.
