Welcome to Disney University: Where Dreams Come True

Ever thought about what your favorite Disney princess would be like in college?

If you know me then you know I love Disney. I mean capital L-O-V-E Disney. Here’s a pictures of the EXACT moment Elsa told Anna I could be their long lost sister, it’s from my first ever trip to Disney.

I just wanted to show off, oopsie.

Anyway, yes, I love Disney. Got it? Good. Because today I’m gonna talk about some of my favorite Disney princesses and what their lives would be like if they went to college. What majors would they have? What clubs would they be in? Buckle up everyone, it’s time to explore Disney University.

Pochanatas

My all time favorite DP. Pocahontas is a very outdoorsy, I-don’t-take-sass, stand up for what’s right kinda girl. In her spare time Pocahontas would always be outside in her eno, or hiking with friends.

Major: Environmental Science or Sustainability. Why? Let me tell you about a little song called Colors of the Wind.

Clubs: Any environmental club, a feminist club, social justice club, and the multicultural club.

Belle

Ah Belle. She loves adventure, books, and the freedom to choose. At DU (Disney University - that I totally just made up) she’s spend 99.9% of her time in the library. Girls got a 4.0, is in the Honors College, and STILL has time for clubs. She would be goals.

Major: English - Literary Studies. Not because that’s my major or anything, I mean she’s always got her nose stuck in a book.

Clubs: Book club, feminist club, and creative writing club.

Rapunzel

Rapunzel is creative and free spirited, much like Pocahontas who I imagine would be a great friend. She’d spend most of her time in the art studio painting until the sun went down.

Major: Art - have you seen her tower walls?

Clubs: Puzzles, and darts, and baking, paper mache, a bit of ballet and chess club (10 points if you get it) and of course art club.

Snow White

I think Snow White would be the total rebel while in college. 7 boyfriends in one semester, skips class just to have some apple pie, adopts that dog from the shelter her overbearing step-mother never let her have. That kinda stuff.

Major: Zoology. No one knows animals better than Snow!

Clubs: Baking club, animals rights club, and an acapella group.

Elsa & Anna

My sisters from another mister! Okay so technically Elsa is a Queen and not a Princess but I had to include her!! These two would be inseparable outside of class. If you invite Elsa to your party, you better expect Anna. Of course Elsa is a few years old than Anna, I imagine that Elsa was Anna’s guide for the first several weeks of her Freshman year. What are sisters for?

Major(Elsa): Psychology. Elsa goes through some intense soul searching throughout her movie; she’s very unsure of who she is at first and by the end of the movie she’s learned to control her powers and is emotionally under control.

Major(Anna): Theatre. Anna is theatrical and charming. She’s also very animated (no pun intended) when she talks or tells stories.

Clubs: An acapella group and ice skating club.

Clubs: Drama club, Dance club, and Student Government.

There you have it! If these princesses weren't royal they'd all soon be on their way to college! Which Disney Princess would you hang out with?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
