Welcome Back Football Sundays

Sorry, I'm busy on Sundays in the winter.

Sundays just got a whole lot better because it is officially football season. Growing up, football was always in my life; my brother played, my dad coached, and I cheered. One thing we did every year was to go to New York Giants games, so it's safe to say Big Blue is a big deal in my household. In 2011, when the Giants beat the Patriots my brother and I left school to go to Metlife Stadium and celebrate the insane victory with the team. I am excited to welcome football back.

Every year HBO runs a documentary following one team's training camp called "Hardknocks" and it is one of my favorite things to watch. It's fascinating to see behind the scenes of each team and how different the dynamics and coaching styles are from team to team. The show is also a fun way to introduce fans to rookie players. However, sometimes a player you may like might not last long at camp and is quickly cut. This year is the Rams organization and I'm excited to see how they run their team.

Then preseason hits. Teams get to try out things they normally wouldn't in the regular season. Although the games don't actually count towards anything, die-hard fans take these games very seriously. It gives them the ability to brag about how well their team is going to do in the regular season.

Sundays during the regular season are extremely hectic in my house. We are a Giants house. If they are playing we are watching. When they aren't playing, RedZone is on and we're catching as many games as possible.

Football season also means eating ridiculously greasy foods until you physically can't eat anymore. Fries, wings, quesadillas, pigs in a blanket and so much more comes out in waves throughout the whole day. Although the food is great, it isn't what football season is all about. It's really about enjoying a truly American sport. Moments like the one in the picture below is what makes watching football that much more fun. This single catch is going to be talked about in the sports world forever.

If your team was lucky enough to have a good season, after 17 weeks it is time for playoffs. If your team is having a really good season, then they might just make it all the way to the Super Bowl. In between the funny commercials, is the most important game of the whole season. The Super Bowl is also one of the best parties of the year. Seeing people come into class and work hungover the next day might be my favorite pastime.

Welcome back football, you have been missed. Hopefully, this will be a great year for the New York Giants.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
