Weird Things That We All Do But Think Others Don't

Everyone does it! I swear!!

We all have our quirks about us. Most of which we're a little scared to share with others because we think that each of them is unique to us. Over time, I have found quite a few oddities that we can all understand. Below are the top 19 most relatable...

1. Picking out specific Sour Patch Kids colors.

And Skittles. And Starbursts. I know I’m not the only one who will only eat the shades of red.

2. Throwing clean clothes in the hamper.

When we’re just too tired to hang another article of clothing up in the closet.

3. Redecorating our rooms every three months.

The trends are changing faster than we can repaint the walls and purchase a new comforter.

4. Tasting things that we know won’t result in satisfaction.

Like trying that one food that always made your stomach churn one more time just to see if your taste buds have changed their mind.

5. Tossing water bottles under the bed (behind the driver’s seat).

And wonder where all of the trash came from months down the line.

6. Believing that those same water bottles are contaminated and undrinkable after the third sip.

And then wonder why the world is dying.

7. Self-diagnosing illnesses.

Only to decide that we are certainly dying after searching “cough” on WebMD.

8. Choosing only the chips that are covered in flavor dust.

Making all of your friends hate sharing any snacks with you.

9. Imagining my life as a Grey’s Anatomy character instead.

Or a Friends character.

10. Asking yourself “what would Meredith Grey do?”

Or Monica Geller?

11. Sipping from the same spot on the glass each time.

If not only to avoid covering the rim in lip gloss smudges.

12. Having anxiety about automatic doors.

Especially when walking more quickly than it opens.

13. Preparing the voice you will use when you say “here”.

Role call never gets easier, not even in college.

14. Testing out our British accents.

But ONLY in the car, when we know no one can hear our poor impression.

15. Turning down the volume in the car when you get lost.

As if it will somehow help you find the way.

16. Singing the entire alphabet.

Because, apparently, you can’t just skip to the part you need.

17. Listening to the same song for days on repeat.

At least you’ll know all of the words next time you need to bust it out at a party.

18. Peeing in the shower.

We all do it, don’t get so offended.

19. And finally, relating to every item on this list.

But that’s okay, we won’t tell if you don’t.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
