Two sharp raps came on the door. Startled Lisa headed to the door of her apartment.

"Who is it?" Lisa called.

"It's Sarah, hon. Can I come in?" a raspy, feminine voice responded.

Lisa opened the door to find her longtime friend Sarah with red rimmed, swollen eyes on her doorstep.

"Come on in. Tell me what happened."

"It has to do with Thomas."

Lisa pulled Sarah into a comforting embrace.

"I'll go put some water on for tea. You go ahead and sit down in the living room and then we'll sort this out."

Lisa quickly took care of the tea and brought Sarah a steaming cup.

"Now tell me what happened."

"Um, well, Thomas...he's filed for divorce."

"Oh no. Did he say why?"

"He said,um, he said that i'm still in love with Jack and that he, he just couldn't deal with it anymore." Sarah choked out.

"I am so sorry. Is there anything that I can do?"

"I could use a place to stay for a while if that's okay."

"Of course. It's no problem at all."

"Thank you so much, Lisa."

"It'll be just like when we were roommates again. Remember that?"

Sarah smiled faintly.

"You, me, Jackie-boy and Ted. How could I forget?"

-Five Years Ago-

The sound of pounding feet reached Lisa's ears as she and her friends ran up the staircase. One friend, a tall, slender young man lagged behind.

"Hey Jackie! Hurry up. The realtor is only going to be at the apartment complex for another fifteen minutes!"

The young man looked up with his bright blue eyes and brushed some of his unruly, brown hair out of his face.

"I'll race you."

"You're on!"

With a devilish grin the young man took off up the stairs. Lisa followed on his heels with the others following closely behind. They all burst through the door for the fourth floor at once and fell into a tangled heap. Lisa was the first to untangle herself and helped everyone to their feet.

"That was fun but we really do need to meet the realtor."

The group made their way down the hall until they came to apartment 302. Lisa knocked and waited. A short but intimidating woman answered the door and looked on the group with apathy.

"Yes?" She said with a less than thrilled tone.

"Hi, we're here to see the apartment. We talked on the phone. I'm Lisa, this is Sarah, Ted and Jackie."

"Oh I see. Come with me."

The group followed her as she gave a quick tour.

"We'll take it."

"Alright. It's move in ready, so just fill the lease paperwork out and it's all yours."

Lisa scribbled furiously and then passed the papers around for the group to sign.

"Here you are. All filled out."

"Congratulations on your new apartment." The realtor said flatly, while handing them a key.

The realtor left immediately afterwards.

"We have an apartment guys!" Sarah shouted excitedly.

-Back in the present-

"We were all so happy then. No cares in the world. Just starting out. I wish it was all that simple now."

"Sometimes things happen Sarah. Nothing we can really do about it but try to get on with life."

"Let me ask you something Lisa, do you think that I made a mistake marrying Thomas?"

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
