I'm sure at some point in everyone's life, they wished the world wasn't superficial. That the world didn't first see and judge you for your outside appearance. That the world saw you for who you are.
But unfortunately, the world as we know it will most likely always be superficial. As long as we have senses and something to judge on before character, it will be judged.
While yes, I could not give in to this superficial world every once in a while, find my inner confidence, and go out bare-faced, I choose not to... ever.
When I go out with my friends, whatever we end up doing on a Friday or Saturday night, it's to have fun with each other. I surround myself with self-confident and empowered women, and we have enough personal security to not seek constant validation from suitors' attention. I look forward to Friday nights because I can relax from the week, unwind, and socialize with my best friends.
But while I go out to socialize and have fun with my friends, I enjoy meeting new people, and am also aware of the gaze of strangers around me. Both of these characters can make me doubt myself, as I can feel more eyes focused on my face if I am noticeably bare. Believe it or not, makeup helps one blend in. I have super blonde eyebrows and eyelashes, so without stenciling on some color, my face is almost ghost-like. The definition helps my features stand out in dimly-lit places, and I therefore don't look out of place.
Makeup has always been something that flagged my interest, and I am fascinated by fun products and the process of painting my own face before I face the world. Having the ability to define my face just how I like and makes me feel most confident helps me have the best time when going out, as I am more worry-free of on-looker's gazes and acquaintance's judgments.
While some of my friends can go makeup-free and still look flawless, I am stating I do not feel like myself if I am dressed up with a bare-face. Makeup helps me feel confident because I can present my best-self, but power to the girl or guy that feels differently. Face products should be used for one's own personal gain, not for other's, so we should encourage the use of as much or as little makeup as each individual wants.
Stay confident and having a good time, my friends, because going out should be pleasurable, so don't let anyone's opinions or views change that for you!
