Every single morning when I wake up, I stare into my closet and contemplate what the hell I am going to wear today. Now, my closet consists of a variety of neutral colors with a random splash of brightness here and there, but for the most part, my essential wardrobe consists of black and that's normally what I choose to wear every day.
And why black? Because wearing all black makes me a total badass.
Now, some think that wearing all black makes me look gothic, or unhappy. But, it is actually quite the contrary. I'm one of the happiest most outgoing people that I know (not to brag). I choose to wear all black because I like to assert my power. I want people to look at me and say "damn, homegirl has her sh*t together." Because black is powerful and creates an air of mystery and I like that, I like being somewhat hidden and people not knowing what to make of me. I'm full of surprises and secrets, so I'll keep ya guessing.
I also love all black because I am a huge fan of color popping. My brand new Sephora Rouge Shine lipstick isn't going to look fabulous if it blends into the colors that I'm wearing now is it? When wearing all black I am always dressed for any occasion. Lunch with the girls? All Black. Work meeting? All black. Drink after class? All black. You see, wearing all black fits into any social situation, just throw on a pair of fun earrings and you're ready to go from class to the bar, in about .5 seconds.
All black makes me look fierce and intimidating. In a male-dominated world, a girl has to give herself a leg up somehow, and wearing all black gives you just that. Everyone always notices the girl in all black, because that girl makes a statement. In addition, I don't need colors to show my personality, I don't need a horrid floral pattern to show I am a fun person, I shine completely on my own without the use of out of season flamboyant colors.
I always look sophisticated. Even if I am wearing the outfit I wore out the night before, now one will notice because all black gives you a classic look with a hint of sophistication. And if you spill your beer on yourself no one will notice because it will blend right in and dry the right shade.
So, the moral of the story is-- wearing all black makes me a chic badass and nobody can mess with me because I am a confident, independent woman. I'm not saying that people who wear a lot of colors are bad people, I am just saying that people who wear all black are better.
